# The B2B Company Account in the Storefront

<LearningObjectives>

- Compare a standard storefront account with a B2B-enabled account.
- Recognize which storefront areas relate to activated B2B modules.
- Understand how the company account context shapes the employee experience.
- Use the storefront account and checkout flow to verify that your B2B setup behaves as intended.

</LearningObjectives>

# The B2B Company Account in the Storefront

As a shop administrator, you activate and configure B2B Components in the administration. Your B2B customers experience these functions in the storefront, mainly in their account area and in the checkout flow.

This difference is important. A setting can look correct in the administration, but the customer experience is only clear when you check the storefront.

In this learning unit, you compare a standard customer account with a B2B-enabled customer account. You will learn which storefront areas appear, how they relate to activated B2B modules, and how to use the storefront view to verify your setup.

## Continue in Your Learning Environment

Use the learning environment from the previous unit to check the storefront account view. If you have not created the environment yet, open it here before you continue.

In this unit, you use the storefront to compare a standard customer account with a B2B-enabled account and verify which B2B areas are visible.

## Compare the Account Menu Before and After Activation

For a standard customer, the storefront account menu contains regular account areas such as orders, addresses, and personal data.

When B2B functions are active, the same account menu can show additional B2B areas. The customer still enters through the normal account icon, but the available options now reflect the B2B functions assigned to that customer.

Depending on the activated functions, the account menu can include areas such as:

- Employee Management
- Role Management
- Quick Order
- Shopping Lists
- Quotes
- Company and Organisation Units

This comparison is the first storefront check: a B2B-enabled customer should see the areas that match the activated modules. A standard customer should only see the regular account areas.

## Use the Storefront to Verify Activated Modules

The storefront is more than the customer's view. It is also your verification view.

Each visible B2B area should match a module that is active for the customer. If you did not activate a module, its area should not appear.

Use this relationship as a simple verification check after activation:

| Storefront Area | Activated Module | What the Customer Does There |
|------------------------------|---------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
| Employee Management | Employee Management | Invite and manage colleagues in the company account. |
| Role Management | Roles | Define which colleagues may do what. |
| Quick Order | Quick Order | Enter product numbers or upload a file to fill the cart quickly. |
| Shopping Lists | Shopping Lists | Save and reorder recurring purchases. |
| Quotes | Quote Management | Request a price and review the merchant's response. |
| Company / Organisation Units | Organisation Units | View and switch between the company's units. |

Order Approval is slightly different. It does not primarily appear as a separate menu entry. Instead, it changes the **checkout and order flow**, because some orders can end in an approval step instead of a completed purchase.

The storefront B2B areas reflect the functions and configuration you set in the administration. If a customer says a feature is missing, first check which functions are active on their account.

## Understand the Company Account Context

B2B functions are activated for a customer account or preset through a customer group. In the storefront, this B2B-enabled customer account can act as a company account.

When Employee Management is active, the company account can contain multiple employees. Each employee signs in with their own credentials and works inside the same company context.

What an employee can see and do depends on their role. For example, one employee may only prepare a cart and submit it for approval, while another employee may approve orders or manage other employees.

This means the same shop can feel different to two employees of the same company. You define that experience through the active B2B functions, employees, roles, and approval rules configured for the customer.

## Example: Check a Customer Setup

Imagine you activated Quick Order, Shopping Lists, and Employee Management for a test customer, but not Quote Management.

After saving the customer, log in as that customer in the storefront. The account menu should show the areas for Quick Order, Shopping Lists, and Employee Management. The Quotes area should not appear, because Quote Management is not active for this customer.

This check confirms that the storefront experience matches your administration setup. If an expected area is missing, go back to the customer profile and check whether the matching B2B function is active.

## Common Pitfalls

Before you move on to configuring company accounts, keep these storefront checks in mind.

### Pitfall 1: Configuring Without Logging In as the Customer

If you never test from the storefront, you cannot be sure the customer sees what you intended. Always verify a B2B setup by logging in as the customer. This is especially important after changing roles, approval rules, or enabled modules.

### Pitfall 2: Assuming Every Employee Sees the Same Thing

Two employees of the same company can have very different experiences because of their roles. Do not assume a feature is broken just because one employee cannot see it; check their role first.

### Pitfall 3: Overloading the Account With Unused Areas

Every activated module adds visible areas or changes to the storefront account and checkout. Activating modules a customer will not use clutters their account and creates confusion. Activate only what the customer needs.

## Summary

In this learning unit, you learned:

- How the storefront account changes when B2B functions are active.
- How B2B storefront areas relate to the modules activated in the administration.
- Why the storefront is the most useful place to verify a B2B setup.
- How employee logins and roles can shape the company account experience.
- Why customers should only see the B2B areas that match their actual workflow.

With this storefront view, you can check whether your administration setup matches what the B2B customer actually sees and does.

This completes the foundations. In the next course, you will configure the company account itself: Employees, roles, and Organisation Units.
